The Women Peace and Security Institute (WPSI) of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Liberia will organize an election observation training for grass-root women in Liberia in preparation for the upcoming national elections in October 2017.
WPSI and the KAIPTC believe that if elections are not managed in a free and fair manner and there are post electoral violence, the greatest victims will be women and children, as has been the case during the civil war and other conflicts. The Liberian women, realizing their vulnerability in times of conflicts, are best placed to serves as agents of peace before, during and after the elections.
