Restructuring of Intelligence Support in Peace Operations Course to a Certified UN Military Peacekeeping Intelligence Course

The Centre has successfully restructured the Intelligence Support in Peace Operations course to align with the United Nations Military Peacekeeping Intelligence (UN MPKI) course standards. This significant milestone underscores the Centre’s commitment to providing cutting-edge training for peacekeepers globally.

The restructured MPKI course, held from June 3rd to 14th, 2024, equipped military personnel with essential skills in gathering, analysing, and utilization within complex peacekeeping environments. A key feature was the adoption of a blended learning approach. Under the new programme, participants will be required to complete an online pre-course before attending the onsite training, allowing participants to familiarize themselves with foundational concepts, and better prepared for the intensive, hands-on on-site sessions.

The blended learning model has been met with positive feedback as it offered participants greater flexibility and the ability to learn at their own pace. The onsite training was intensive and interactive, featuring scenario-based exercises, group discussions, and expert-led sessions that closely mirrored real-world peacekeeping intelligence challenges. This restructuring was made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Government of Switzerland, whose support has been crucial in enabling the course’s certification by the United Nations.

Feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with many noting that the course’s new structure provided a comprehensive and practical learning experience. The pre-course online component allowed participants to maximize their engagement during the onsite training, leading to a deeper understanding of the critical role of intelligence in peace operations.

KAIPTC is excited to announce that about ten (10) of its training courses have been earmarked to receive UN certifications as part of a broader certification drive.  This achievement further solidifies KAIPTC’s position as a leading global centre for peacekeeping training and education.
