REFLECTING ON A SUCCESSFUL PARTNERSHIP: EPSAO-KAIPTC PROJECT CLOSURE MEETING

Accra, Ghana (6 November, 2024) The KAIPTC hosted the End of Project Closure Meeting for the GIZ EPSAO-KAIPTC partnership, marking a significant milestone in our shared commitment to advancing peace and security in West Africa.

Launched in 2022 and co-financed by BMZ and the EU, this collaboration has enhanced our training capacities, expanded e-learning tools, and supported organizational development, all in alignment with the ECOWAS peace and security agenda.

More than 20 dedicated team members from KAIPTC and GIZ gathered to celebrate the project’s achievements, exchange lessons learned, and discuss the future under the next phase—the ECOWAS Peace, Security, and Governance (EPSG) project. This evolving initiative will continue to integrate governance with peace and security efforts to further strengthen and unify ECOWAS member states.

Air Commodore David Akrong, Deputy Commandant of KAIPTC, emphasized in his remarks, “This workshop is not just an opportunity to close a chapter but a moment to reflect on the long-term impact of our work and the pathways we have opened for future initiatives.”

Ms. Teresa Kraft, GIZ EPSAO Head of Component, highlighted the transformative impact of this collaboration on the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA) and the importance of capacity-building across the region.

Adding a personal reflection, Ms. Horname Noagbesenu, Director of Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation at KAIPTC, reminded us, “Our work here impacts the lives of women and children who bear the harshest consequences of conflict. This collaboration transcends project goals—it serves a greater purpose for peace and security across the continent.”

As Ms. Noagbesenu affirmed, “This partnership isn’t ending; it’s evolving.” The mission to secure peace and stability remains critical, and together, we are prepared to continue this journey.
