KAIPTC trains 158 Sierra Leonean Police Officers ahead of June 2023 Elections

KAIPTC’s Mobile Training Team, with funding from the German Government, conducted a two- week training on Electoral Violence and Security (EVS) in Freetown, ahead of the June 2023 elections. The capacities of 158 Sierra Leonean Police officials were enhanced to prevent and manage potential or perceived electoral violence situations that could occur during the elections.

Participants were taken through various topics including election security trends in Africa, the electoral process, management and legal frameworks in Sierra Leone, threat assessment, intelligence management and early warning. Participants acknowledged the timeliness and relevance of the training in performing their mandates during elections.

A participant shared; “I am a field operations officer; such knowledge gained will be applicable in the field in the discharge of my duties during this election period. I will try to impart this knowledge to my colleagues so that they can benefit from this rich training course.” Anonymous ~ EVSC-SL23
