KAIPTC Strengthens Partnership with KNUST

The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) are forging a partnership to amplify knowledge sharing, training opportunities, and a focus on inclusive education, empowering women, and fostering youth engagement in peacebuilding efforts across Africa.

This strengthened collaboration comes on the heels of a courtesy call by the KAIPTC Commandant of KAIPTC, Major General Richard Addo Gyane on the Vice Chancellor of the KNUST, Prof Akosua Dickson on the sidelines of the just-ended E-Learning International Conference organized by the KNUST. The Commandant during the visit was also taken on a tour of KNUST’s E-Learning Centre to learn about its infrastructure and facilities.

Major General Addo Gyane, commended the KNUST for its commitment to inclusivity in education through its e-learning programs, a focus he said aligns perfectly with KAIPTC’s mission to broaden access to peace and security training across Africa.

The Commandant highlighting the significant milestone KAIPTC has made over the past 20 years in peace and security education also highlighted the imminent awarding of a Presidential Charter in the ensuing weeks that will empower KAIPTC to issue its own certifications for its postgraduate and PhD programs, solidifying KAIPTC’s position as a leading institution in peace and security education.

Major General Addo Gyane also emphasizing the convening power of KAIPTC within Africa stressed the desire to build a strong relationship with KNUST, leveraging on the University’s strong academic fundamentals to drive leadership and advocacy on inclusive education, gender equality and technology.

The Commandant who also spotlighted KAIPTC’s commitment to women’s empowerment in peace and security efforts, expressed his satisfaction with the leadership KNUST, commending the institution for its efforts at bridging the gender gap with a woman leading the charge of management of the university.

The Vice Chancellor of the KNUST, Prof Akosua Dickson expressed the university’s eagerness to collaborate with KAIPTC in any form that will be mutually beneficial.

She also commended KAIPTC for going through the necessary processes for the potential award of a Presidential Charter, which she said signifies societal recognition of KAIPTC’s valuable contributions.
