KAIPTC Launches 20th Anniversary Celebrations

The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) officially launched its 20th anniversary celebrations on October 31, 2024, in Accra. The event, themed “Celebrating Two Decades of Peacekeeping & Peacebuilding Excellence: Reflecting on KAIPTC’s Journey and Its Contributions to Peace & Security Efforts in Africa and Beyond,” highlighted the Centre’s transformative impact on regional and global peace and security.

Dignitaries, including high-ranking defense officials, diplomats, and international partners, gathered to celebrate KAIPTC’s achievements since its establishment under Ghana’s Ministry of Defence in 1998 and commissioning in 2004.

Delivering the keynote address, Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu, representing the Chief of Defence Staff, praised KAIPTC’s evolution into a hub for research, policy development, and academic excellence. Commandant Major General Richard Addo Gyane announced the creation of the Kofi Annan School of Peace and Security Studies, expanding the Centre’s academic offerings.

With over 30,000 military, police, and civilian personnel trained in two decades, KAIPTC remains steadfast in fostering a stable, secure, and inclusive Africa, bolstered by strong support from international partners such as Austria, Canada, Norway, and the United States.
