While the digital world offers tremendous opportunities, it also presents threats and risks to individuals and organisations. Cybercrime, data breaches, social engineering, online fraud, and privacy concerns in the digital world must be managed through responsible online behavior and safeguarding personal information.
As part of efforts to mitigate cyber security threats, the KAIPTC in October embarked on a month long cyber awareness campaign to support national and regional efforts on best practices, safe online behavior, to protect information and strengthen digital resilience. Daily tips on cyber security were provided to the Centre’s social media community on Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) using the hashtag #CyberMonthKAIPTC as part of the awareness campaign.
During the period, the KAIPTC also hosted “Her Cyber Track West Africa Forum” which brought together, stakeholders to deliberate on strengthening cyber security and advancing the participation of women in the cyber security space thereby contributing to the broader goals of gender equality and inclusivity in the technology industry. The occasion was graced by H.E Daniel Krull, German Ambassador to Ghana and Ghana’s Minister of Communications, an aluminus of the KAIPTC, Honourable Ursula Owusu who encouraged all participants to maximize the opportunity given them
The Forum also included training on multilateral negotiations, a UN-level simulation of international cyber diplomacy as well as networking events.
The KAIPTC cyber security awareness month ended with discussions on X-Spaces on the topic: “Promoting the Culture of Cyber Security”. The dialogue offered the Centre’s social media community an opportunity to learn from cyber security experts.
