Course Fee: Each participant shall be required to pay a non-refundable commitment fee of ¢3,200 GHS (three thousand, two hundred Ghana cedis). Participants who are coming from outside Ghana would have to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements. Those who will require a visa on arrival will also be responsible for the cost of their visas.
Terms and Conditions:
  • The course will be conducted ONLY in English
  • Every participant will have to prove adequate health insurance coverage, which should include Covid 19 before travelling to the Centre. Additionally, participants must possess a COVID-19 negative PCR test from an accredited laboratory in the country of origin. The test should have been done not more than 72 hours before the scheduled departure time from the country of origin. KAIPTC will not bear any health or accident costs for any participant.

Introduction/Background

With the rise of global cyber-attacks, it is more critical than ever for IT professionals to swiftly investigate breaches using effective digital forensic techniques. Analysis by the e-Crime Bureau highlights the challenges of managing cyber incidents in complex IT environments, spanning third-party integrations, cloud computing, mobile devices, and remote work infrastructure.

The Cybercrime Investigation and Digital Forensics programme provides theoretical knowledge and practical foundation in the principles and methodologies essential for investigating cybercrime, securing digital evidence, and conducting digital forensic analysis across a wide range of platforms. Participants gain hands-on expertise in key tools and techniques, preparing them for careers in cybersecurity. The course begins with an introductory module covering fundamental concepts, terminology, and the vital role of digital forensics in combating cyber threats. Through a combination of hands-on sessions and real-world case studies, participants will refine the practical expertise required to conduct thorough and effective digital forensics investigations.

The main objectives of the course are to:

  • To assist participants to understand the network protocols for communicating on IT networks
  • To assist participants to discover the potential attacks at each layer of the TCP/IP Model.
  • To help participants understand the process of investigating cyber incidents
  • To help participants gain practical knowledge in investigating selected applications
  • To assist participants to identify malicious activities through log analysis
  • To assist participants to collect and analyse web browser artifacts for digital forensics investigations
  • To assist participants to trace the source of an IP Address using forensics techniques
