Introduction/Background
The risk and severity of cyber-attacks have grown over the past few years due to the continuous advancement of technology. The “new normal” resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic has also accelerated technological adoption while exposing cyber vulnerabilities and the unpreparedness of organisations to deal with these vulnerabilities. According to the World Economic Forum, cyber-attacks are considered among the top three threats to global stability. Recent research and industry analysis conducted by the e-Crime Bureau on IT security of various industries including public sector, financial/insurance, aviation, education, manufacturing, communication, etc. in Ghana clearly indicate that IT infrastructure of organisations is being targeted by criminals, affecting the operations of these institutions.
The Certificate in Cyber Security Training is designed to equip participants on emerging trends of cybercrime, the domain of cyber security, and the impact of cyber security threats on institutions and national security at large. Various countermeasures on how to secure data and precautions that organisations can take to minimise losses and safeguard the IT environment will be addressed. The course will also introduce participants to cyber security governance mechanisms and best practices.
