JOB PURPOSE

The eLearning Instructional Designer will work with the eLearning team to develop and implement online courses. As an eLearning Instructional Designer, you will play a key role in developing engaging and effective online learning experiences. You will combine creativity with a strong understanding of instructional design principles to create impactful training materials using various tools and strategies. This role requires excellent project management, creative and problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Consult with subject matter experts to analyze learning needs and identify learning objectives to recommend learning solutions to streamline, combine, and enhance web-based curriculum.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and content providers to gather content information, determine and implement highly effective learning solutions.
  • Design and storyboard eLearning courses, ensuring alignment with learning objectives and overall instructional goals.
  • Develop engaging and interactive eLearning content, including instructional materials, assessments, and multimedia elements.
  • Utilize instructional design models and adult learning principles to create learner-centric experiences.
  • Device modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes to measure the effectiveness of eLearning courses.
  • Work with multimedia designers to integrate graphics, animations, and other multimedia elements into course content.
  • Keep abreast and apply industry trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design.
  • Utilize the LMS eLearning platform to host, regularly update, and execute eLearning courses and report learning enrollments and certifications.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on eLearning courses to ensure accuracy, functionality, and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the eLearning Officer in managing projects by providing project requirements and schedules, updates on milestones, course reviews, and feedback to ensure timely delivery.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with stakeholders and vendors.
  • Function within a fast-paced environment and deliver quality products within constrained deadlines.
  • Performs any other task within the scope and content of the job as assigned by Head of Unit.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT

Educational Qualification and work Experience

Must have a bachelor’s degree in information technology, Instructional Design, Education Technology, or a related field.  At least 3 – 5 years working experience in developing interactive and engaging online learning materials using Articulate Storyline 360 including videos, quizzes, simulations, and case studies.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Proven knowledge in applying instructional design models, such as ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation)
  • Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles and how to apply them in designing online courses.
  • Experience with creating detailed storyboarding eLearning courses, ensuring clarity in course flow and content presentation aligned with learning objectives.
  • Skilled in the use of course authoring tools (e.g. Articulate Rise, Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate etc) to create interactive, multimedia rich eLearning courses.
  • Familiarity with multimedia and graphic design tools (e.g. Vyond, Adobe Suite, Canva etc) to create high quality visuals, audios and videos.
  • Proficiency in using and managing LMS platforms (e.g. Moodle, Canvas etc) for hosting, delivering, and tracking eLearning courses.
  • Experience in developing effective assessment tools such as quizzes, surveys, and knowledge checks to evaluate learner progress and course effectiveness.
  • Experience in performing Quality Assurance checks on eLearning courses to ensure technical functionality (e.g. testing links, interactions, quizzes) and content accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate ideas, concepts, and project requirements to stakeholders, SMEs, and team members.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new tools, technologies, and project requirements in a fast-paced environment.
