Israeli Delegation Commends KAIPTC, Explores Areas of Collaboration

Accra, Ghana (4th February 2025): The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) hosted a high-level delegation from Israel on a courtesy visit, led by Colonel Aviezer Segal, the Israeli Defence Attaché to Africa. The delegation was accompanied by the Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Roy Gilad, and was received by the Commandant of KAIPTC, Maj Gen Richard Addo Gyane. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in peace and security between KAIPTC and Israel.

During the visit, the Israeli delegation commended KAIPTC for its dedication to advancing peace and security across Africa. They also lauded Ghana’s active role in global peacekeeping missions, recognizing the country’s dedication to restoring and maintaining stability in conflict-prone regions.

Key areas of discussion included collaboration with the KAIPTC’s Faculty of Academic Affairs, the possibility of Israeli officers participating in KAIPTC’s specialized courses, as well as potential opportunities for KAIPTC personnel to engage in training programs in Israel. Both parties expressed interest in fostering mutual learning and capacity-building to enhance expertise in peace operations.

Beyond security cooperation, the discussions extended to exploring joint efforts in education, economic development, defense, and food security. The delegation and KAIPTC leadership underscored the importance of collaboration in these areas to promote sustainable development and regional stability.

The courtesy visit reaffirmed KAIPTC’s role as a leading institution in peacekeeping and security studies, fostering international partnerships that contribute to global peace. Both sides expressed optimism about future collaborations that will strengthen ties between KAIPTC and Israel, enhancing knowledge-sharing and strategic cooperation in various sectors.
