The 35th edition of the Joint Campaign Planning (JCP) Course sponsored by the French Government took place from 13th – 24th February 2023 and brought together twenty (20) French-speaking military participants. The course focused on ensuring that participants who are currently deployed as peacekeepers and those to be deployed in the future in the sub-region understand the principles and procedures in decision making (at the operational level) and the drive for multinational peace support operations. Participants of the course agreed that the training has broadened their knowledge in operational planning as one participant stated;
“The knowledge acquired has helped me strengthen my experience in the operational planning sector and has also broadened my knowledge about the military in Africa” ~Anonymous, JCP23-1
A week before the running of the JCP course, the French Government renewed its commitment to the Centre to enhance the proficiency of staff in the French language.
During the official opening ceremony on the 7th of February 2023, H.E Jules Armand Aniambossou the French Ambassador to Ghana congratulated the Commandant for embarking on this initiative to get staff trained in French at the Centre. He stated that the French government was committed to increasing training in the French language and was happy to support the KAIPTC with a French tutor to train the selected staff.
The Commandant in turn expressed his appreciation to the Ambassador. He noted that language bridges barriers and that with a sizeable number of the Centre’s participants from the francophone countries, there was the need for staff to be able to communicate efficiently. He was hopeful that this initiative would increase the number of bilingual staff to cater for the diverse needs of the Centre’s participants and stakeholders.
